Dorado Azul (Guayofolis officionalis) and Plectranthus Oregano are two oils in the Cool Azul Essential Oil Blend created by D. Gary Young along with Peppermint, Wintergreen, Sage, Copaiba, Blue Cypress, Elemi, and other oils.
Gary Young came across the plant, while he
was searching for suitable land to grow plants for essential oil production. It was the aroma given off
by the plant that drew Gary’s attention and led to him doing research on it. Until Gary’s discovery, the plant had been officially regarded as a weed.
(It’s also known as Goldenweed).
It can grow to 14 feet in height! The indigenous population have been using it for hundreds, possibly thousands of years for a multitude of health benefits.
My first experience with Dorado Azul was in Ecuador while at the Nova Vita Clinic. My hotel room in Guayaquil had a mold issue which quickly took up residence in my body as well. At the clinic Dorado Azul was used in a nebulizer and quickly became my best friend! It has a light eucalyptus like fragrance. Gary named it for the blue tips of its mature leaves.
